On these hills, which have been covered in blue since antiquity, Sarraud Farm is located near the village of Sault. The founder of the estate, Eugène Cheyrias, settled in 1866. He ploughed the wild land with his bare hands to cultivate his domestic plants. The Cheyrias family has passed on the ancestral technique of harvesting fine lavender, the most precious variety, from father to son. The latest generation, Frank Cheyrias, cultivates the passion for this emblematic flower of Provence.

An original and fragrant decoration idea

In Sarraud, 150 hectares of farmland are dedicated to the cultivation of lavender. It is mainly fine lavender, also called true lavender, which is characterised by its very intense blue colour. The farm also has 50 hectares of lavandin. This is the first variety to be harvested for aesthetic purposes, for example for decoration in bouquets.

Hand-picked during the summer season, the stems are first dried, then sorted and finally arranged in harmonious bouquets. Wrapped in kraft paper, they are sent to homes around the world to spread their floral aromas.

To preserve the blue glow of a lavender bouquet as long as possible, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight. To revive its fragrance, simply shake the flowers gently.
