Loose lavender, the ally of all weddings

“Long live the bride and groom !” At the end of a wedding ceremony, the Provençal custom of throwing lavender to the happy couple brings good luck, joy and bliss to a home. Its natural confetti, appreciated by all, puts a smile on everyone’s face and embellishes the nuptial atmosphere with its sweet floral fragrance. The genuine fine lavender from Sarraud Farm brings a message of peace.

Lavender has always blued the hills of Haute-Provence. During Antiquity, the Romans already picked its flowers to make balms and home fragrances. Eugène Cheyrias settled in Sault in 1866. In love with the wild blue nuggets that adorn the land, he decided to cultivate his emblematic variety: fine lavender. His craftsmanship has been passed down for six generations. Sarraud Farm, managed by his latest descendant, Franck Cheyrias, continues the work of his ancestor and shares his values and technical skills. The lavender from Sarraud is a unique nugget in the world, the result of more than a century of passion.

A plant with little-known virtues

At Sarraud, no agricultural machinery is used to harvest the lavender for the bouquets. The fragile plant must remain intact for the following season. It is by hand, with a sickle, that the lavender grower picks this blue stem. The bunches are stored for a long time to dry. They are then taken to the house to decorate it. Sometimes the flowers are detached from the calyxes. Some of them go to the large still to be transformed into essential oil, others into floral water and still others into fabric bags. Loose lavender is another way of obtaining this high-quality lavender. It is weighed and shipped without intermediary.

For creative people: loose lavender is an excellent raw material to let your imagination run wild. It can be used to fill bags or cushions of any fabric. It can also be used to make candles with exquisite scents. Mixed with other flowers, they make a delicate potpourri. Placed in an interior, it soothes and calms anxieties. Slipped into an envelope, it delicately perfumes letters. Gastronomes also appreciate it in the preparation of various dishes. Lavender, thrown over newlyweds, is also a shower of kindness to be shared with all guests.
